 Maybe you are old enough to have been a part of the generation that was represented by the Broadway show and movie entitled HAIR. If so, the movie’s theme song, “Let the Sunshine” often runs through your mind. Of course, these aren’t the lyrics that we usually remember. We find ourselves humming “When the moon is in the 7th house and Jupiter aligns with Mars” or singing with gusto “It is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius” and now, that age is here.
Are you aware that the Age of Aquarius began in May of 2000? A planetary alignment of mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn is strengthened by the Moon, the Sun, and Earth on a historical date, May 5, 2000, for the first time in 6 thousand years. Amazingly, a similar alignment will take place on December 22, 2012. Perhaps this historic alignment has been given more importance by writers than it deserves. After all, we are still here after the alignment that took place ten years ago. The alignment that took place in 2000 was supposed to usher in a time of personal growth and understanding. Many ancient scrolls and tablets pointed to a better understanding of the afterlife and other worlds. We were supposed to be reminded of the past in terms that would change our lives forever. This DID happen. The event was not a joyous one. We passed from a trusting nation to one that lives in constant fear of the repetition of the events of 9/11. We have come to think of this date as a repeat performance of the religious wars between the Christians and the Moslems of the past. The Age of Aquarius was ushered in by this Grand Conjunction. Our enlightenment was something that happened. We have found ourselves caring more for other people. We have always helped other countries but after 9/11 and all the help we received from others, we have broadened our scope of assistance. Also, our nation has found itself undergoing a spiritual awakening, too. And so began the Age of Aquarius. We are on a collision course with people writing about 2012. There are those who are warning of the End of the World as this amazing planetary alignment occurs. They cite the Mayans and the Aztecs. They refer to Nostradamus and other people who made predictions. But the truth is that all that is predicted is a GREAT CHANGE. When consulting the stars we find that the Solstice (12/21/2012) signals the end of one of the Mayan 5 thousand year cycles as well as the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar. Just because they did not make a calendar that began on 12/22/12 does not mean they foresaw the End of the World. It just means that it would be the End of the World as we know it. Truthfully, we have no idea what the next cycle has in store for us. Perhaps there will be a renewal of harmony and spirituality and we will finally learn how to be one with the Spirit. Many people believe it will be the closing of one door and the opening of the door to Enlightenment. May it be so and may Peace Guide the Planet and Love Rule the World.
